Pets are like members of the family.
So when something goes wrong with a pet’s health, it can be truly devastating.
Luckily, there’s a new supplement on the market designed to help your pets deal with difficult symptoms and ailments.
In this article, I’m going to introduce you to Canna-Pet:
A hemp-based CBD supplement for pets.
I’ll take an in-depth look at what Canna-Pet is, share my experience with the product, and also help you decide whether it’s the right product for you and your pet.
Finally, I’ll also point out some other CBD pet products should you be looking for alternatives.
Update: Canna-Pet does NOT ship to Canada. If you live in Canada, I recommend products from King Kanine > Read the review here.
Why Treat Your Pet With CBD?
Hemp and cannabis have received a lot of attention recently, mainly for their many medicinal and health benefits.
But why exactly should you consider giving CBD to your pets?
Well, it turns out that hemp-based products can work wonders for pets with a vast variety of ailments.
The compounds found in hemp (including CBD and a long list of other cannabinoids and terpenes) can help with everything from chronic pain and inflammation to anxiety, appetite and eating disorders, sleep issues, and much more.
In fact, the list of ailments that CBD and hemp seem to help with is almost unbelievable, but I’ve witnessed them myself:
A few years ago, our family dog Rosie, a beautiful Golden Retriever, was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and cancer.
The doctor said her condition was terminal and there was nothing we could do other than try to make her as comfortable as possible for her remaining years.
Looking for ways to make her remaining time with us as enjoyable as possible, it wasn’t long before I heard about cannabis supplements for pets, and Canna-Pet.
Like many other pet lovers out there, I found huge success using Canna-Pet.
I covered the exact benefits of CBD and hemp-based products in more detail on the benefits page found here.
As a quick list, you may want to consider using CBD pet supplements if:
- Your pet suffers from chronic conditions like arthritis which can cause constant pain
- Your pet lacks appetite or doesn’t eat properly, or
- Your pet suffers from a terminal illness like cancer and you want to improve their overall quality of life

Understanding Canna-Pet and CBD Pet Products
I used Canna-Pet extensively with Rosie.
Like many others, I found Canna-Pet greatly improved Rosie’s quality of life and helped her enjoy her remaining time with us.
Here are some of the main reasons I decided to use Canna-Pet and why I recommend it to other pet lovers like myself:
Canna-Pet is a Science-Based Product
One of the main reasons I gave Canna-Pet a try is because it seemed a scientifically-sound product.
Cannabis has received a lot of attention over the past years, especially for its huge medical potential.
While I knew very little about cannabis and how it works, I was quick to learn that a lot of research (both recent and older) has gone into uncovering and understanding the huge potential of this plant.
It helps to know that all cannabis and hemp-based products interact with the endocannabinoid system (or ECS).
This system naturally occurs in all mammals and consists of 2 main receptors (CB1 and CB2) which are located all throughout the brain and body.
The ECS is involved in a wide variety of bodily functions, including pain management, appetite control, and emotional processes like managing fear, anxiety, or stress.
By activating these receptors, the CBD, terpenes, and other compounds found in Canna-Pet can help manage a wide variety of pet symptoms and ailments.
Canna-Pet isn’t Just “Pot for Pets”
A lot of people get startled by the term “cannabis for pets.”
Remember, Canna-Pet is a hemp-based pet product.
It is NOT marijuana for pets!
Canna-Pet is made from organic hemp, and while hemp is technically a type of cannabis plant, it is very different from the cannabis used to make marijuana.
The cannabis varieties used to make recreational cannabis are rich in THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), a psychoactive compound renowned for producing the iconic “high” associated with marijuana.
Hemp, on the other hand, contains very low concentrations of THC (typically below 1%), meaning no amount of hemp would ever be able to provide the strong psychoactive effects of recreational cannabis.
Canna-Pet contains no THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
Instead, it contains high concentrations of CBD (cannabidiol), another cannabinoid renowned for its medicinal benefits.
Best of all, Canna-Pet also contains a high concentration of other compounds found in hemp, including 8 other cannabinoids and up to 30 different terpenes.
This helps mimic a “whole plant approach” rather than simply giving your pet a concentrated dose of just 1 single compound.
This is important because of something called the “entourage effect.”
The Entourage Effect is a theory that claims that the power behind cannabis as a medicinal plant is due to the unique concentration of the different compounds in the plant and how they interact.
I’ll likely cover the Entourage Effect in more detail in future blog posts.
For now, it is important to remember that Canna-Pet offers a complex mix of the compounds found in hemp to provide your pet with comprehensive relief.
Dosing and Administering Canna-Pet is Simple
One of the first questions I asked myself when I began my research into cannabis supplements for pets was this:
How do I dose and administer CBD products?
Luckily, dosing and administering Canna-Pet is really easy.
Canna-Pet CBD capsules, for example, are really easy to hide in a treat such as a slice of ham or cheese.
Alternatively, you can also break open the capsules and sprinkle their contents onto your pet’s favorite meal.
Meanwhile, Canna-Pet CBD oils can easily be administered orally using a dropper, and the CBD treats can be given to your pet as is.
Canna-Pet treats also come in a variety of flavours to help suit the unique palette of your pet.
Canna-Pet is Versatile
Another reason I highly recommend Canna-Pet is because it is such a versatile product.
Like I mentioned earlier, I used Canna-Pet to help my dog Rosie cope with hip dysplasia and cancer.
However, Canna-Pet can be used for so much more.
From stimulating appetite to managing pain or anxiety, Canna-Pet can provide a spectrum of relief for all kinds of pets.
Once again, this comes down to the science behind cannabinoid therapy.
If you research the medicinal benefits of hemp and cannabis, you’ll be surprised by the amount of conditions/symptoms that can possibly be treated to by these plants.
This is because the endocannabinoid system and its receptors are spread all around the body, from the brain and vital organs to the gastrointestinal tract and beyond.
By being so widely dispersed around the body, the ECS is involved in a vast variety of physical and mental processes.
Some of the symptoms/conditions CBD can help manage include:
- Chronic pain
- Multiple sclerosis
- Epilepsy, seizures, and tremors
For a more detailed rundown of the many uses of Canna-Pet, check out the company’s ailments page.
Canna-Pet isn’t A Pharmaceutical
One final reason I enjoyed using Canna-Pet is because it isn’t a pharmaceutical but a supplement.
This might seem like a tedious distinction to make but it’s actually really important.
Being a benign, organic hemp supplement, Canna-Pet doesn’t interfere with any other medications or supplements your pet might be taking.
This was really important for me because it meant I didn’t have to change up Rosie’s routine before getting her started on Canna-Pet.
Not only does this make the product a lot easier to administer, but it also gave me some peace of mind when deciding to use Canna-Pet as it wouldn’t affect Rosie’s existing routine.
What Are People, and Pets Saying About Canna-Pet?
When I began using Canna-Pet with Rosie, I was blown away by the positive results.
But I’m not the only one.
Canna-Pet has received hundreds of testimonials from other pet lovers just like you and me.
Here are just a few other Canna-Pet success stories:

In turn, she received regular joint injections to help manage the inflammation and liquid build up in her knees. Using Canna-Pet, Kai’s owner was able to minimize the inflammation in her knees and also help minimize the pain caused by the condition.
Other CBD Pet Products
If you’ve ever researched CBD for pets, you’ll know that there is a variety of products available out there.
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to review all CBD pet products yet.
Nonetheless, if you’re looking for an alternative to Canna-Pet, consider the following options:
King Kanine: King Kanine offers CBD related products, and some other pet health products which all contain high quality ingredients. They offer CBD oil as well as dog treats, and various forms of CBD supplements such as sprays and balms. I highly recommend King Kanine as well.

One of the latest additions to their product line is Pure CBD+, a 100% hemp-based phytocannabinoid supplement. Similar to the CBD oil by Canna-Pet, this oil can be used for many of the same ailments.
Canna-Pet: Is it Right for You and Your Pet?
I highly recommend using Canna-Pet on any pets with chronic ailments or ongoing symptoms like pain, anxiety, inflammation, etc.
Within just a few days of using Canna-Pet with Rosie, I noticed a huge improvement in her condition.
